Slick way to create your own channel

I recently discovered that the Dailymotions videowall factory enables video content aggregators to present their channels in a really user-friendly way. I’m now rushing into my new project:The Weekly Kempff. The question is though - what kind of videos should I focus on? It’s much harder than I suspected to create an interesting channel with interesting content that everybody else is not already doing. HELP.

Nick Douglas at Gawker wrote yesterday "According to a source at the Creative Artists Agency, host Joanne Colan is leaving Rocketboom, one of the Internet's first prominent news videoblogs. During her tenure, Colan never managed to transform the show (directed by creator Andrew Baron) from a quirky but inscrutable cult favorite into a mainstream online news source. (See for yourself below by watching today's weird episode.) Nor did she achieve the same web fame as her predecessor Amanda Congdon, who left a job with ABCNews.com last year."

What is she going to do? Help me find out. But what I want most is Amanda to come back. She's a legend!

An Internet video homage

As I'm someone who both enjoys Weezer and some who has spent so many years exploring Internet TV, I enjoyed watching this video and Weezer’s nod to the pop culture impact of YouTube Viral Videos. Glad to see a number of the people from popular Unisodes were invited to be a part of this video. But what about the song huhh?

Quicktour - ohh so easy

I occasionally stumble upon sites that explains new products or features with educational videos. I really love it. It’s a low barrier way of explaining something complex in an easy way yet thanks to the interactivity you can just jump to the parts that really interest you. What would the world look like without the educational videos?

Earthquake information on screens around China

The Hong Kong Based network CN is making available daily spots for government information on the Sichuan earthquake and details of how to donate to organisations assisting its victims. Content providers include government TV network CCTV, China's Ministry of Civil Affairs, and the Red Cross Society of China. A fantastic initiativ that also explores the possibilities with out of home TV networks.

Broadcasting will continue for the rest of this month, with a possibility of extension into June. Well done!

Watch Manchester United play on Manutd

For all of you that love football. Check out the videoclips provided by Manutd about Manutd. Sometimes they even broadcast live and you can listen to their live radio broadcast. Great for fans! Smart and definitely something we will see more of in the future.

Well done Anagrande

I recently discovered the Swedish concert video filming initiative anagrande.tv. A bunch of guys documenting concerts primarily performed in Sweden with, if possible, enjoyable interviews. They present themselves like this “Arena Grande broadcasts live concerts from in and around Sweden. We also try to catch artists before and after concerts. Sometimes we'll do an interview, another time we'll film an exclusive acoustic clip. This is not MTV. We believe in intimate, up close. We believe in detail, in letting the music take place. We believe in love! We believe in people, we believe in life!” Their productions are of great quality and it shows that they love what the do. You can also se their programs on Joost. I wish more of this in the future!

TimeTube - Youtube timeline

For all of you that feel it's important to put things into a perspective! Dipity has created the Timetube where you can search for video content on youtube and it creates a timeline of video clips. Smart and funny. Try it out yourself.

Dayrobber is out there

Swedish pop culture lovers Oscar Glausers and Robert Mellbergs initiative Dayrobber produces several different entertaining shows around music and entertainment. Dayrobber.com is our their channel for broadcasting their shows, but they also distribute their shows on other video websites, mobiles, iTunes and through new and upcoming digital channels. I think that it's a great way to distribute relevant content to relevant aggregators. All in the best interest of the viewer and that would be me!

Threadless Tee V

Jag älskar Threadless. De är verkligen ett bra exempel på när ett företag bygger sin image kring innehåll (Huhh CONTENT!!) och med hjälp av användare (kunder). Köp din Tee Shirt, men du kan även läsa bloggar, se vad andra tycker om produkterna, designa egna tröjtryck och framförallt - titta på Threadless Tee V. I detta avsnitt får vi bekanta oss lite med baksidan. Mycket nöje.

När det är som bäst på Internet

En gammal favorit som jag besöker minst en gång i veckan. Ibland flera gånger om dagen faktiskt. Larvigt underhållande på en nästan barnslig nivå. Just nu är det grymt, för jag kan hålla koll på hur våren utvecklar sig på Internet. Observera att det fortfarande funkar bra att åka skidor i parken i Tandådalen. Annars är det mysigt att bara sitta och umgås med tigern på kolmården. www.webbkameror.se

Formatet - frihet eller....

En av fördelarna (??!?) med film på Internet är det faktum att producenten själv bestämmer längden på sitt innehåll, trots en potentiell massdistribution. Det är något som aldrig skulle hända i TV världen. Bra eller inte, men det lockar människor att pröva nya grepp att t.ex. traila sina filmer.

Louis Vuitton - Keith Richards

Louis Vuitton bjuder oss på en riktigt skön filmserie där Keith Richards berättar om sitt London. Dessutom roligt att se bakomfilmen där han blir plåtad av Annie Leibovitz. För den som vill, finns det mer att se om andra städer tillsammans med t.ex Steffi Graf eller Michail Gorbachev. Det som verkligen triggar mig är att det kommer att bli mer sådant här i framtiden. LV positionerar sitt varumärke med hjälp av "dokumentära" filmer. De har de gjort förut, men det har aldrig varit så tillgängligt som det är nu.

Boxer4Racing - LIVE

Hmmm. Också ett sätt att utnyttja möjligheten till live broadcast. På Ustream sänder ett team live från deras satsning i Boxer4Racing - One Lap of America. Rätt larvigt och ointressant faktiskt, men det kittlar lite när jag tänker på vilka olika händelser som faktiskt kan sändas live i framtiden.

Earth Touch

Måste bara få kasta in ett gott ord för Earth Touch. Ett riktigt skönt sydafrikanskt initiativ som visar filmer gjorda av olika naturfilmare, men mer som observationer. Det ger mig en känsla av att det faktiskt finns lite natur kvar på jorden. Testa själv. Men jag måste varna - det är lite beroendeframkallande.

Nästan 30% IP TV - på Island

Enligt Telecommunications Management Group har nästan 30% av Islands hushåll IPTV. Undrar hur Sverige skall hantera det publika stödet till t.ex SVT när vi når upp till dom nivåerna. The economist skriver "NEARLY a third of Hong Kong's households watch television via the internet, according to a new report from Telecommunications Management group, a consultancy. Because internet protocol television (IPTV) uses the same technology as that which links computer networks, smaller countries with high broadband penetration tend to have more subscribers. As well as plain old programmes, viewers can also enjoy other services such as on-demand video. So far, Europe accounts for over half of the world's subscribers."

Play Rapport

SVT lanserade igår Play Rapport, en motsvarighet till TV4:s nyheterna.se. Det fungerar riktigt bra och jag är övertygad om att den kommer att användas flitigt. Ett intressant dilemma som alla nyhetskanaler kommer att ställas inför är frågan hur de skall möta den allt större internationella konkurrensen. Kommer rapport i förlängningen att bli en lokal nyhetskanal eller kanske en mer analytisk nyhetsrapportör som "tolkar" konsekvenser av globala händelser för att passa in i vår lilla värld?

GTA4 - nästan som film

Nu är fyran släppt. Jag vill, men vågar egentligen inte. Det är lite som att smygröka, sjukt omodernt men ändå spännande. Det är inte OK att tycka att GTA4 är bra, men samtidigt kan jag inte låta bli att fascineras. Dessutom börjar det bli mer och mer likt en lite dåligt animerad långfilm, som du styr själv. "Den öppna spelvärlden leder till emergens, oväntade situationer som uppstår i spelet som ett resultat av spelarens val och spelets reaktioner på dem....resultatet av den öppna stadens alla valmöjligheter är kaos. Spelar man om ett uppdrag ter det sig inte likadant som förra gången man spelade det" skriver Sam Sundberg i SvD. Det är egentligen inte nytt, men det kommer bara att bli bättre. Som på film, fast på låtsas.



Kan inte låta bli att lägga till detta också.... det är radiokanalerna som man lyssnar på i spelet.

Hulu vs. Joost

Noterade att Hulu fortfarande inte har öppnat sin sajt för andra än Amerikanska medborgare. Jag antar att det kommer att ta lika lång tid för Hulu som det tog för Itunes när de skulle cleara rättigheterna för sitt innehåll. Men, det är intressant att det verkligen händer. Jag är övertygad om att konceptet är klockrent - det är ju inte en fråga om filmbolagen måste hitta en ny distributionskanal (och affärsmodell) utan när det kommer att hända. Joost har ju gjort ett försök, men Hulu har helt klart en fördel då dom ju ägs av några av de "stora".
